Tokyo Sport Benefits Corporation is a non-profit corporation established to spread and promote sports among the residents of Tokyo, and protect important cultural properties within Tokyo.
Presently, the Corporation is the designated manager of facilities for sports and other uses, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Metropolitan Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground, Tokyo Budokan, and Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center. In addition, through the Tokyo Metropolitan Buried Cultural Properties Center, we excavate, record, and preserve important cultural properties that are at risk of being lost or destroyed by construction or other developments, thereby protecting and utilizing the shared cultural assets of Tokyo's residents. Furthermore, we conduct business to spread and promote sports, including business entrusted to us by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the Corporation's independent initiatives.
The Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in this year, 2016. Four years later, Tokyo will be the Host City for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad. The Corporation is also fulfilling the role of the Tokyo Metropolitan Wide Area Sports Center by providing support for the establishment of integrated local sports clubs, which allow persons of all generations to mingle, and promoting activities for the realization of a rich lifestyle for all Tokyo residents through sports.
Corporation endeavors that its activities will contribute in even the smallest way to spreading and promoting sports among Tokyo residents, and protecting and utilizing buried cultural properties, which are the shared property of Tokyo residents.
